Exceptions & FAQ

The only reason which supports Adlington New Town is that the land ownership is consolidated. All other reasons make this unviable.
Reduce tourism to East Cheshire & the Peak District.
Further neglect Manchester & Macclesfield services.
Increase demand on the transport network.
Increase flooding along the River Dean and Bollin.
Reduce water quality.
Reduce natural habitat in an area of exceptional wildlife.

2833 acres has been identified, using both data from maps released by the scheme and land registry data. Effectively covering almost the entire greenbelt from Manchester to Macclesfield. This maps shows how big this area is in relation to nearby areas.

Map showing size of proposal vs nearby areas

Independent assessments suggest the new town would add thousands of daily car journeys to already congested roads like the A523. There are currently no concrete plans for major road upgrades to handle this volume, leading to potential gridlock for current residents.
